Keeping morale high through hard times like these can be something of a balancing act.
On the one hand, it helps no one to act so blasé as to pretend the recession isn't happening – yet, where is the sense in rubbing your fellow workers noses in it? By motivating yourself and your colleagues to only approach the subject with meaningful solutions and tactical resolutions, you will see productivity thrive.
